West Carteret Water Corporation Phase IV Client:   West Carteret Water Corporation Project: The East Group provided design and bid services, and assisted the Owner in acquiring funding from USDA Rural Development and NCDENR Public Water Supply State Revolving Loan program for all project related expenses. The project included three separate contracts. The 1st contract was an expansion of the existing water treatment plant and process including iron removal, permanent location for ammonia injection, drying beds for the iron vessel backwash, 25,000 gallon ground storage tank, new process and high service pumps, VFD's and other required treatment process improvements. This contract also included the full automation of all processes within the treatment plant and connections to it, and the upgrade of the existing SCADA system. The 2nd contract for the distribution system included 20 miles of mains, sizes 8-inch to 2-inch, to serve areas of western Carteret County not previously served by WCWC. This contract included several directional bores using fusible PVC and had four railroad crossings needing lengthy bore and casement crossings. The 3rd contract for well number 5 included a new 600 GPM groundwater well in the Croatan Forrest included a well head and meter enclosure along with electric controls and monitoring equipment as well as connection to the existing 12-inch raw water main.
