Rail Car Unloading System Client:   NC State Port Authority - Morehead City, NC Project: The project consisted of a system for unloading fertilizer products from rail cars and transferring the products to an existing bulk material storage facility. Key components included a new rail spur, unloading building, conveyor pit and trench, 36” belt conveyor, transfer tower and dust collection. The system is capable of handling up to 600 TPH of product. Design highlights included the dust collection system, which incorporates a unique hood design developed by The East Group for capturing dust at the hopper under the rail cars. The East Group teamed with a construction company and performed this project using the “design-build” method. This project was completed in three months from start of design to operation of the system.
