Process Air System Design for Dust Filtration and Disposal Client:   Paper Products Facility Project: The East group provided engineering services to replace five existing baghouses with drum filters containing integral prefilters. The system uses a continuous prefilter and drum filter media cleaning method via vacuuming nozzles which are powered by the prefilter and drum filter stripper fans. The fibers collected from the prefilter are conveyed to a removal cyclone and then transported to a baler system to be reused by the converter process. The dust collected from the drum filter is conveyed to a separate removal cyclone and then transported to a “bricker” system for later disposal. The design and operation of the filter system with continuous cleaning eliminates the explosion relief venting required for existing baghouses. The baghouses were replaced while maintaining current production capacity with minimum downtime.
