ECU Shared Use Path

ECU Shared Use Path

Ped Plaza Phase 3 represents the final phase of a shared-use path spanning East Carolina University’s main campus. Building on the previous phase, the project connects Joyner Library and Sonic Plaza to the bus drop-off at the Eakin Student Recreation Center.

Improvements include the continuation of a vehicle-rated brick path, designed with width and pattern variations to safely accommodate bicycles, skateboards, and pedestrians. What was once a disjointed pedestrian experience is now a well-connected walkway that supports movement, encourages gathering, and enhances daily campus life.

Additional work included modifications to parking along Cupola Court, an extension of Joyner Plaza, and more direct connections to the Old Cafeteria Building and Mendenhall entrances. The project also included planting, irrigation, site lighting, stormwater infrastructure, and utility adjustments.
