Pamlico County Water Treatment Plant

Pamlico County Water Treatment Plant

The Grantsboro and Kershaw Water Treatment Plants, which supply a significant portion of the county’s potable water, required targeted upgrades to address aging infrastructure and pressure loss. The East Group secured funding through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and completed a comprehensive engineering study to identify improvements that would enhance water quality, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Key upgrades included pre-chlorination for biofouling control, improved aeration with pH adjustment, new filter and softener media, and electrical updates to support automated softener control. The project also introduced new vessel face piping with automatic backwash systems to improve overall performance.

Additional improvements addressed structural and site needs, including repairs and coatings for ground storage tanks, a building addition to house a color removal system, and piping modifications to integrate new treatment components.

These upgrades support the continued delivery of safe, reliable drinking water while improving long-term system performance and sustainability.
