Senior Mechanical Engineer

The East Group is seeking a skilled and collaborative Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in our Greenville, NC or Raleigh, NC office. This full-time role is ideal for someone with 10+ years of experience who is passionate about thoughtful design, enjoys building relationships, and thrives in a multidisciplinary environment.

About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at The East Group, you’ll lead project teams that impact communities across the region, with a focus on healthcare, industrial, and public sector projects. You’ll lead project teams, guide clients through complex design processes, and help mentor the next generation of engineers. This role offers the opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to meaningful, community-focused work.

  • Key Responsibilities
    • Lead the design of mechanical process systems, including HVAC, chilled/hot water, steam, compressed air, natural gas, and other utility/process piping systems, preparing detailed drawings, load calculations, and system layouts
    • Apply knowledge of the mechanical codes and related standards
    • Perform field work, document existing electrical conditions, and supervise design updates
    • Prepare reports, studies, mechanical specifications, and facility condition assessments
    • Communicate and coordinate with mechanical designers, architects, engineers, and other disciplines throughout the design process
    • Review mechanical submittals and shop drawings
    • Contribute to the development of construction documents and project deliverables
    • Support mentoring of junior staff and foster collaborative teamwork

     

    What You Bring

    • 10+ years of mechanical engineering project experience
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program
    • PE license in North Carolina (or ability to obtain quickly)
    • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills
    • Proficiency in Revit is preferred
    • A proactive, team-oriented mindset and commitment to continuous learning
