Senior Structural Engineer

The East Group is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer our multidisciplinary team in either our Greenville or Raleigh, NC office. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex structural design projects across industrial, healthcare, and public sectors. The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineer with strong technical proficiency, excellent communication skills, and a passion for innovative and efficient structural design.

About the Role

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll play a key role in leading the analysis, design, and coordination of structural systems across a wide range of project types—industrial facilities, healthcare campuses, educational buildings, and municipal infrastructure. You’ll work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to deliver safe, efficient, and constructible solutions. This position provides an opportunity to grow as both a technical expert and mentor while contributing to meaningful, community-focused projects.

  • Key Responsibilities
    • Lead structural design for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures
    • Perform detailed modeling and analysis using RISA software (RISA-3D, RISAFloor, RISAFoundation)
    • Review and seal calculations, drawings, and reports for quality and compliance
    • Collaborate with architects and MEP engineers to ensure coordinated, successful project delivery
    • Manage project schedules, scopes, and budgets while maintaining strong client relationships
    • Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and promoting a culture of learning and excellence
    • Conduct site visits, condition assessments, and construction-phase observations
    • Prepare structural reports, specifications, and construction documents

     

    What You Bring

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)
    • PE license in North Carolina (or ability to obtain reciprocity quickly)
    • 8+ years of relevant structural engineering experience
    • Proficiency in RISA software (RISA-3D, RISAFloor, etc.)
    • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and other structural design tools
    • Strong knowledge of building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, etc.)
    • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
    • A proactive, team-oriented mindset and commitment to technical excellence
